The short history of Facebook
Facebook continued their expansion in 2007 with several key additions to further modularize their social networking powerhouse. Facebook Marketplace, essentially the Craigslist of Facebook, was launched in the Spring. Facebook also launched Platform in the Spring, which allowed people to code their own applications to be used within the Facebook website. Microsoft even cashed in on the Facebook craze, by purchasing a 1.6 percent share of the company for $240 million USD. Finally, Facebook added many additional features in the Fall of 2007, such as Facebook Ads, Facebook Beacon, Facebook Social Ads, and Facebook Insights.
