Ski Resorts

People often confuse ski areas with ski resorts. Ski areas are usually areas that offer ski trails up on a mountain. Some have food available, as well as rental facilities, and most have a ski lift system.

A ski resort is simply a ski area with additional facilities that make it a vacation resort. Usually they offer accommodations in rooms or cabins and offer activities in addition to skiing. Many have game rooms, clubs, movie theaters, and shows that offer additional entertainment. Most are self-contained and are set up primarily for profit in ski tourism.

Many ski resorts also have a ski patrol set up to help prevent some of the injuries that can go along with skiing. They usually have a first aid center, and the patrol will make sure participants follow rules, check the safety of ski trails, and maintain general control.

If you are looking for a great winter destination vacation, a ski resort is a great place. Anyone can learn to ski, and for those who are a little less interested in the snow sport, there is always a wealth of other activities that you can enjoy. It is a trip that would be well worth taking!
